The British Gallaher Group buys out Stokkebye to gain a foothold on the Danish pipes and tobacco market. Peter Stokkebye continues as the director. The tobacco-spinning works survive. |

The Gallaher Group stops the manufacture of pipe and chewing-tobacco in Denmark. The chewing-tobacco division is sold off by Stokkebye in a management buy-out to directors Børge Drest Nielsen and Erling Thobo-Carlsen who now own Hermann Krüger's Eftf. ApS, founded in 1805, and specializing in a brand of smokeless tobacco named Oliver Twist. The company's share of Denmark's chewing-tobacco production is 13%. |

The name "House of Oliver Twist A/S" is registreted as a trade name, after which it alone is used in all communication with the surrounding world. "Hermann Krüger's Eftf. AS/" is still the registered name of the company in the Danish Register of Companies. |

The production volume rounds 700 km of spun tobacco. This equals about 70 million tobacco pellets, which have helped Oliver Twist consumers to avoid smoking approximately 185 million cigarettes. |

Michael Drest Nielsen joins the company's executive management. |

Børge Drest Nielsen retires from the executive management, and Michael Drest Nielsen takes over the position of managing director. At the same time, Børge Drest Nielsen assumes the post of chairman of the board for the company. |

The financial aspects of the generational change are finalized so Michael Drest Nielsen ends up owning the majority interest in the company's share capital. It is estimated that sales of Oliver Twist tobacco pellets will replace the smoking of 310 million cigarettes by our consumers. |
